With a solid educational background, Dr. Murad attended medical school at Trinity College Dublin. He then went on to perform his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Minnesota. Upon completion, he was accepted to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for his advanced therapeutic endoscopy fellowship, working with some of the premier interventional endoscopists in the country.

Prior to his time at NorthShore, he was an Associate Professor of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, and served as Director of the EUS Program within the Section of Interventional Endoscopy. During his time there, Dr. Murad co-founded the Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) Program and performed the first POEM for achalasia in Missouri.
