Walter founded Louisiana Achievement Charter Academies, a charter school system that includes five campuses in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is also a retired professor of finance from Louisiana State University. As a student, Walter graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Master of Business Administration also from LSU.
